Adopted in 1920. Flag colors: Red, black green, top to bottom, in three equal horizontal bands. The flag evolved from Marcus Garvey's Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) movement and the African Communities League (ACL), an international assembly of 25 countries of the African diaspora. It was adopted at it's first international convention of August, 1920 as the colors of the African race. The flag represents the collective ancestral heritage of all African people in addition to Afro-Americans.
